Carson Chamber Singers, a performing group of the Carson City Symphony Association directed by Richard Hutton, will begin rehearsals on Tuesday, Jan. 10, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at the LDS Church, 411 N. Saliman Road.
Performances of Handel's oratorio Israel in Egypt, with double chorus, six vocal soloists, and a Baroque orchestra, will be May 6 in Carson City and May 7 at Nightingale Hall in Reno.
“We're calling all choral musicians to join Carson Chamber Singers’ next exciting project,” Hutton said in a news release. “Two years before Handel's Messiah was written, the Baroque master wrote an oratorio (very similar in style) telling the story of the Exodus. It includes dramatic settings recounting the plagues and the parting of the Red Sea - you don't want to miss this!"
Carson Chamber Singers is open to singers high-school age and above. Participation is free. Sign-up for these concerts at ccsymphony.com. For information, registration, and rehearsal schedule, see ccsymphony.com or call the director at 219-218-5634.
