Carson City School-Based Health Center open during spring break

The School-Based Health Center, operated in partnership between Nevada Health Centers and the Carson City School District, will be open normal hours during spring break. The School-Based Health Center is located at 612 W. Musser Street and is set back from the street just behind the Gleason School at 604 W. Musser.

Rotarians donate to Eagle Valley Middle School LEGO robotics team

Eagle Valley Middle School’s LEGO robotics team got a boost from the Rotary Club of Carson City recently. The team won the state championship and is the only team from Nevada to be invited to the World Festival in Houston. Rotary Club members donated $3,000 to help defray travel expenses.

3 officers shot in Sparks; suspect dead after traffic stop escalated into standoff

Three law enforcement officers in Northern Nevada were shot and wounded Friday, after a traffic stop in Sparks quickly escalated into an hourslong standoff that included several shootouts between officers and the suspect, police said.

Soup is one of my favorite things to put together. You take a bunch of raw ingredients; wash, scrub, chop, dice, sauté, season and magically make a unique creation every time. I don’t always follow recipes exactly when I make a pot of soup. A lot of times ingredients come from what’s in my pantry, what’s in my veggie bin, and what’s in my fridge or freezer.

Carson City man sentenced to prison following Sparks shooting

A Carson City man has been sentenced to 16 years in prison after he pled guilty to committing a drive-by shooting in Sparks. Earlier this month, David Maciel, 21, was given 48-120 months after pleading guilty to shooting into an occupied structure and a consecutive 28-72 months for assault with use of a deadly weapon, according to the Washoe County District Attorney’s office.
