Orlicks strong in snowboarding

Carson City's Mikey and Aaron Orlick continued their strong performances this past weekend in USASA South Tahoe Series snowboarding events.


On Saturday at Sierra-at-Tahoe, Mikey, 14, continued his dominant freestyle performances in the slopestyle youth men's division with a first place finish. His performance included a flawless rail nosepress, a backside 720 and a frontside boardslide on the kink rail. His point total of 186 was nearly 40 points higher than the second place finisher.


Aaron, 13, placed second in the slopestyle breaker boys division on Saturday. His run consisted of a tailslide on the rainbow rail, huge airs, 360s and a 50/50 boardslide. Aaron also finished third in Sunday's giant slalom at Heavenly behind South Tahoe's Nicholas Poohachoff and second place finisher Kevin Cain.


The USASA South Tahoe Series will conclude on Sunday at Sierra-at-Tahoe as the Orlicks will compete in the halfpipe event. The Orlicks ride for Out of Bounds Board Shop.
