A Schurz man remained in the Lyon County Jail on drunken driving charges Friday following a collision Thursday near Emigrant Way in Fernley in which another driver was seriously injured.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, a black Ford Explorer driven by Tamoke Henry Smiley, 33, was eastbound in the westbound travel lane of Highway 50 Alternate about 11:30 p.m. when it struck a blue Oldsmobile mini van head-on.

The unnamed driver of the mini-van was taken by Care Flight to Washoe Medical Center where he was listed in serious but stable condition, said Trooper Eddie Bowers.

Smiley allegedly tried to leave the area on foot and was apprehended by troopers.

After being treated for minor injuries at Washoe Medical Center, Smiley was booked on suspicion of drunken driving causing substantial bodily harm, hit and run with injury, driving left of center, driving without insurance and driving without a seat belt.

His bail was set at $81,036.
