RPEN to hold picnic Tuesday


The Retired Public Employees of Nevada, Carson City Chapter's annual picnic will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Ross Gold Park on Snyder Street, near fire station No. 3. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided, and members are asked to bring a side dish to share. Call 246-0878.

The Carson Valley Desert Brushes will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Johnson Lane Firehouse, 1450 Stephanie Way, in Minden. Painters of all levels and those who would like to learn to paint are invited to attend and check out the special painting classes being offered during the rest of the year. The meeting is free. Contraband to play at Bartley Ranch


Local doctors will take time off from their practices to perform Celtic and bluegrass music at a free outdoor concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bartley Ranch Regional Park's Western Heritage Interpretive Center as part of the Evenings on the Ranch family program series.
