Carson City


Class of '66 holds 40-year reunion


The Carson High School Class of 1966 will hold its 40-year class reunion July 28-29. July 28 is a no-host cocktail party at 7 p.m. at the Old Globe Saloon, 407 S. Parks and Rec Commission to meet


The Parks and Recreation Commission will meet at 5:30 p.m. today in the Sierra Room of the Community Center, 851 E. William St.


The agenda includes a landscape maintenance district ordinance that would provide the city with authority to assume maintenance of these residential areas - if used by the public.


Discussions about planning and status of partnership with Western Nevada Community College, and the $3.5 million bond slated for this type of improvement, and recommendations about Question 1 grant priorities, also are planned topics.




Airport Authority to meet Wednesday


The Carson City Airport Authority will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the airport's terminal building.


Scheduled topics include: actions regarding the airport master plan, layout plan and environmental assessment plan, and a possible annual gate fee from which money collected would be used to help pay for facility upkeep and repair.


Also on the agenda is possible action regarding how AB312 might affect the airport. This legislation focuses on appraisal procedures related to leasing and selling of property by municipal airports.




Douglas County


Senior center to hold painting class and pick-it raffle


The Douglas County Senior Center will be holding a watercolor class Wednesday. The cost is $15 per class, which includes materials. For information or to register, call 882-6061.


On Wednesday, the senior center will also be holding a "U-Pick-It Raffle," which is like a garage sale except that items are raffled off. Ticket sales start at 9 a.m., and drawings begin at 11:30 a.m.


Tickets are $1 each, $5 for six tickets, or $10 for 13 tickets. To donate or for questions, call 783-6455.




Genoa sponsors 'Candidates Night'


The town of Genoa will be sponsoring its semi-annual Northern Nevada and Douglas County Candidates Night at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Genoa Town Hall.


Residents of Genoa and Douglas County can meet the candidates running for office in the Aug. 15 primary election. Call 782-8696.




Dayton


Connection Church hosts musical group


The musical group DCF will perform at the 8:30 and 10 a.m. services on Sunday at The Connection Church in Dayton.


The Connection is off Highway 50 off Occidental Avenue, across from Riverpark Estates.
