Free scrapbooking class at senior center


There will be a free class on scrapbooking at 10 a.m. today in the Job's Peak Room at the Carson City Senior Citizen's Center. Participants will learn to quickly and easily preserve their photos into safe, meaningful albums. Call 885-8230.




BAC hosts 'Love's Labor's Lost'


The Brewery Arts Center presents Shakespeare's "Love's Labor's Lost" at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and June 16, 17, 23 and 24 in the Donald W. Reynolds Theatre at 449 W. Learn to weave a basket at museum


Letitia Kendrick, basketmaker, will be teaching participants how to make a double-walled Cherokee basket from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 17 at the Nevada State Museum, 600 N. Carson St. Registration deadline is Saturday. Cost is $30, which covers all materials. Participants should bring a spray bottle for water, scissors and a sack lunch. Auditions for 'Pizza Boy' at Comma


Skeever Film Productions will hold an open casting call for males and females ages 20-40 at Comma Coffee, from 2-5 p.m. Saturday for the short comedy "Pizza Boy." The coffee shop is at 312 S. Carson St. In order to select the part they wish to read for, the actors and actresses will be provided with a small portion of the script. There will be no pay. Douglas County


Sharkey's fetes Carson Valley Days


Sharkey's Casino in Gardnerville will celebrate Carson Valley Days Friday and Saturday by staying open until 2 a.m. with a favorites menu. A drawing will be held each night for a commemorative 125-year Gardnerville silver medallion. Drawing tickets will be given to anyone who gets a single jackpot of $25 or more. Sharkey's is at 1440 Highway 395 N. in Gardnerville.


Washoe County


Washoe County recreation begins summer hours


Washoe County's water parks and pools, the Melio Gaspari water playpark in Spanish Springs and the Great Basin Adventure, will begin summer hours Saturday. The water playpark is at Lazy 5 Regional Park in Spanish Springs. Hours will be 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Admission is $2. The Great Basin Adventure is at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park in Reno. Its hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. Admission is $5 for adults, $3.50 for children ages 3-12, free for seniors and under 3. The Sun Valley pool is at 115 W. Sixth Ave. The Bowers Mansion pool is at 4005 Old Highway 395 in Washoe Valley. Both pools will be open from noon to 5 p.m. daily.
