RTC routes to change for Memorial Day

The public transit services provided by the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) will be modified for the Memorial Day observance. Riders of RTC RIDE (formerly Citifare) and RTC INTERCITY (Formerly PRIDE) should note the schedule changes.


RTC RIDE will operate in the Reno/Sparks area on a Sunday schedule. RTC INTERCITY, the service between Carson City and Reno, will not operate on Memorial Day. Call 348-7433 or visit www.rtcwashoe.com.


Carson City


USDA food distributed


The USDA Commodity Food distribution will be held from 9-11 a.m. Friday at the Community Center on Highway 50 East. This month's foods include canned apple juice, pineapples, dehydrated potatoes, green beans, spaghetti sauce, tuna and peaches.


Any needy family may be eligible. Food may be picked up for the homebound or those unable to attend by bringing a signed note from them and their picture ID. For information call 688-2828.




Debt Management Commission to meet


The Carson City Debt Management Commission will meet at 12:15 p.m. today in the Sierra Room of the Community Center, 851 E. William St.


Commission members will consider action on these two proposals: The $25 million general obligation bond primarily to replace portable classrooms at Carson Middle School as well as to improve, construct, and equip schools; and the $3.5 million parks bond for a new recreation center.




Historic Resources Commission to meet


The Carson City Historic Resources Commission will meet at noon Thursday in the Cooperative Extension Conference Room, 2621 Northgate Lane.


This is a special time and location.


Scheduled is action on an application for a new sign in the Brewery Arts Center performance hall parking lot, 501 W. King St.

Shade Tree Council meets


The Carson City Shade Tree Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the Cooperative Extension office conference room, 2621 Northgate Lane. Enter from the Northgate side.


The agenda includes discussion about management methods of city trees, action on landscape development standard modifications and the council's honor roll process.




Carson High Football booster club to meet


The Carson High School football booster club will meet at 6 p.m. today at the Pizza Factory on Highway 50 East.


Cost to join the booster club is $5.


Grad Night needs help


Only half of the money needed has been raised and only half the volunteers and chaperones have been recruited for Carson High School's annual Safe Grad night. Elder abuse presentation canceled for today


The presentation on elder abuse scheduled for 11:45 a.m today in Virginia City will not be taking place due to an illness. Call 847-0957.
