Alice D. Cunningham, 78, a 33-year resident of Carson City, died Sept. 14, 2004 in Carson City.

A private service will be held.

Ms. Cunningham was born July 1, 1928, in San Francisco to Henry and Agnes Spencer. She grew up in San Francisco, and lived in Reno before moving to Carson City.

She was a computer operator supervisor for the state of Nevada for more than 30 years before retiring in 1990. During her younger years, she modeled for the upscale department store I. Magnin in San Francisco.

She volunteered at the Nevada Libraries for the Blind and Physically Handicapped, and loved opera, theater, history, animals and collecting antiques. Her favorite sports were tennis and fencing. She was an avid chess player.

She is survived by her son, Sean Brian Cunningham of San Francisco; dear friend Mary Pat Thompson; sister Helen DeMartini of Santa Rosa, Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended-family members in California and Hawaii.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of the arrangements.
