Carson City


Children's Museum to hold Spanish classes


The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada will be holding Spanish language classes for young children starting Oct. 5.


From 1 - 2 p.m. Thursdays 4-to-6-year-old children will be tutored, and from 4 - 5 p.m. Thursdays 6-to-8-year olds. Tuition for this 10- week class is $80 and includes crafts, prizes, handouts and other class materials. Class size is limited.

Think Pink kickoff tonight at Red's Old 395 Grill


The Think Pink Breast Cancer Awareness kickoff party will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Red's Old 395 Grill. Participants who wear their Think Pink T-shirts will receive complimentary appetizers. For information and to get a T-shirt, call 885-4281.




Roberts House holds teas


There will be teas to benefit the Roberts House Museum on the following dates, times, and for the following prices: Oct. 7 at 11 a.m. for $15; Oct. 22 at noon for $15; Nov. 12 at noon for $15; and Dec. 3 and noon for $18. Space is limited and early registration is requested by four days prior to the tea.

Behind-the-scenes tours at the State Museum


The Nevada State Museum will be featuring behind the scenes tours of their anthropology and natural history collections at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday. Regular museum admission applies.

USDA commodity distribution Friday


The USDA Commodity Food distribution will be held from 9 - 11 a.m. Friday at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St. This month's commodity foods include Great Northern Beans, spaghetti, tomato sauce, apple juice, egg noodles, beef stew, canned salmon and canned pears.


Any needy family in Carson City can be eligible. The household must sign a Daily Issuance Sheet at the Community Center Friday, certifying that their household's annual income does not exceed 150 percent of the federal poverty level.

Nondenominational performances to benefit north-state Food Bank


There will be two nondenominational performances to benefit the Food Bank of Northern Nevada at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Meadow Wood Courtyard, 5851 S. Virginia St. in Reno. Cost is $20 per person per performance, or $30 for both. Call 829-4600.
