A memorial service for Thomas Mitchell Jr., 67, a former 10-year Stagecoach resident, will be at 3 p.m. March 3 at the Stagecoach Church of God, 8925 Highway 50.

Mr. Mitchell died Dec. 16, 2006, at his home in Kirkwood, Ill., where he lived for one year. He was born Jan. 7, 1939, in Stockton, Calif., to Rev. Thomas and Thelmas Reynolds Mitchell.

He married Sandra Marsh Mitchell on May 3, 1960, in Lomita, Calif.

Mr. Mitchell was a contract administrator with McDonald Douglas and served in the U.S. Air Force and National Guard for six years.

He was a minister for the Church of God in Cleveland, Tenn. He founded and built the Stagecoach Church of God and was the pastor for 10 years.

He was a volunteer firefighter, EMT, and a Cub Scout and Boy Scout master.

He enjoyed rock collecting and traveling.

He wrote "Wake Up Church, Wake Up America, God is Crying For You."

Among his survivors are his wife; daughter and son-in-law Kathleen and Malcomb Lowery of El Segundo, Calif.; sons and daughters-in-law James and Angela Mitchell of Stagecoach, and Michael and Cheri Mitchell of Torrance, Calif.; sister and brother-in-law Connie and Larry Scott of San Diego, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.

Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel P.C. in Illinois is in charge of arrangements.
