Carson City


Senior center to hold 'Brrrr Ball' Saturday


There will be a senior dance from 7-10 p.m. Saturday at the Carson City Senior Citizens Center. The "Brrrr Ball" costs $6. There will be refreshments and a no-host wine bar, and free dance lessons from Thane Cornell from 6- 7 p.m. For information, call 883-0703.




Audition scheduled for new production


Proscenium Players' will hold auditions Monday for its third show of the season, "Lend Me a Tenor," by Ken Ludwig, at 7 p.m. in the ballroom at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 W King St.


A cast of five women and four men ages 20-60 is needed. Auditions will include of cold readings from the script. Script copies are available at the BAC office for a deposit of $10.


Production dates are Friday-Saturday nights April 20-May 5, with one Sunday matinee. The production is directed by Jason Macy and produced by Pat Josten.

College to hold auditions for spring musicals


The Western Nevada Musical Theatre Company will hold open auditions for two spring shows, "Thoroughly Modern Millie" and "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown," 6 p.m. Tuesday in Western Nevada Community College's Marlette Hall.


Auditioners should come prepared to sing a song under 1 minute long. They may bring a taped accompaniment or provide the accompanist with a musical score. Callbacks will follow on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.


"You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" calls for six strong leads who sing, act, and dance, as well as a four-person chorus/dance ensemble.


"Thoroughly Modern Millie," casting calls for 16 singing, acting and dancing roles; several supporting roles; a dance troupe and a chorus.


Everyone accepted must register for the WNCC class Music Ensemble 123 to participate in the productions.


Stephanie Arrigotti will produce and direct both shows and Gina Kaskie-Davis will choreograph.

Saint Mary's Hospice to hold volunteer training


Saint Mary's Hospice is offering volunteer training classes from 12:30-4:30 p.m. every Tuesday, from Jan. 30 to March 6, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 305 N. Minnesota St.

Michael's to hold benefit afghan-knitting party


Michael's Arts & Craft will hold a knitting tea party from 1 - 5 p.m. Saturday at the store, 911 Topsy Lane. Participants will make afghan squares for the Warm Up America program. All afghans made will be donated to local charities. There will be tea and cookies, and participation is free.


Participants should bring knitting needles; yarn will be available, but yarn donations are accepted. For information, call Michael's at 267-1938.




Genoa antiques show this weekend


The 13th annual Genoa Antique Show and Sale will be held from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Genoa Town Hall.


Verbal appraisals are available for $5 an item. Admission is $1.50 per person.
