Carson inline hockey knocks off Douglas

The Carson Senator inline varsity hockey team came away with an impressive 7-1 win over Douglas on Friday in front of a large Carson crowd at the Pony Express Pavilion.

Aaron Orlick had a goal and two assists, Tony Mariskanish scored twice, Alex Kaskie and Tommy Dudley each scored once, Austin Bartosz had one goal and one assist skating on a broken foot and Spencer Trapp had one goal and one assist. Carson goalie Richie Copeland faced 22 shots and made 21 saves while Douglas goalie Cory Dowell faced 26 shots and made 19 saves.

High school softball officials are needed

The softball chapter of the Northern Nevada Officials Association is recruiting interested individuals to umpire high school softball.

Training includes classroom and on field clinics. The first meeting will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28 at Paradise Park. For more information, call Mike Reid, 772-4601.

Carson Valley Softball sets signups

The Carson Valley Girls Softball Association has scheduled signups for the 20077 season.

All of the signups will be held at the Parks and Recreation annex building across from Lampe Park. Fees are $65 for ages 5-7 and $70 for ages 8-18. The maximum family rate is $150.

New players must bring a copy of their birth certificate. Returning players should bring completed registration form if received in the mail.

Players must be five as of Jan. 1 and all age divisions are based as of Jan. 1. The signup schedule is:

5-7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27; 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7; 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21; and noon-3 p.m. Saturday, March 3. For more information, call Patti Snyder, 265-6447.
