It's hard to become excited over a 17-1 win, but Carson boys tennis coach Pat Houlihan may have been the most excited he's been all year.

He wasn't excited over his team's 17-1 win over Hug on Thursday at the CHS courts. He was more excited about Hug having 20 players in its program. In the past, Hug has had trouble fielding teams in tennis.

"I'm so excited about that," said Houlihan about Hug having 20 players. "I'm real pleased with Hug.

"They're very good sportsmen. It's always a pleasure to play Hug. Their kids are very good kids."

For Carson (4-0, 2-0 in the Sierra League), Spencer Brinson, Ben Henningson, Tom Hollenbreck/Pringle, Ian Gentner, Kris Canonigo, Gordon Lee, Matt McDaniel and Adam Whitt were all winners in singles while Brad Cobler and Jordan Rogers, Spencer Trapp and James Pelz, Tommy Dudley and Jordan Miller, Ricky Nyguen and Colter Thomas, Collin Grischott and Luke Gentner, Tyler Simms and Tyler Smith, Alex and Tyler Wing, Spencer Gibb and Kyle Campbell and J.J. Aragon and Mike Montiel were all winners in doubles.

In other matches, Jared Wells and Chris Wendell won 6-1 and Montiel and Ben Beutner won 6-4 in doubles.

CHS GIRLS 17, HUG 1

Tiffany Moore, Carrie Linn and Stephanie Adamson all won 6-0 in singles and Elise Hansen and Hannah Dudley, Hannah Shaw and Alyssa Corda and Joanna Xie and Jena Greenburgh all won 6-0 in doubles in the first round as Carson (2-2, 1-1) rolled to the win.
