Monday road conditions, weather outlook

Surface streets in the Carson City area are slick from overnight snowfall and freezing temperatures. Drive carefully for the conditions.

The Nevada Department of Transportation at 6:36 a.m. reports the following road controls in Northern Nevada:

Highway 50 " Snow tires or chains required for 59.9 miles between 0.7 miles east of California State Line and Junction US 95A at Silver Springs. Road closed for 6.5 miles between 10.6 miles east of Kyburz and 8.6 miles west of Junction of SR 89 in California. Chains required except for four-wheel drive vehicles for 30.9 miles between 9.1 miles east of Placerville and 10.6 miles east of Kyburz.

Highway 395 " Road closed for 48.9 miles between Bridgeport and 5 miles north of California State Line.

Interstate 80 " Chains required except for four-wheel drive vehicles for 61.8 miles between Alta, Calif. Exit 146 and 0.6 miles west of Garson Road Exit 4. Snow tires or chains required for 28 miles between 0.6 miles west of Garson Road Exit 4 and 0.3 miles east of Tracy Clark Exit 32.

There is no noted delay for the Carson City School District.

Today's weather will be brisk with snow showers likely with snow accumulation up to 2 inches. Highs from 26-36 with west winds 15-25 mph with gusts up to 40. Tonight, mostly cloudy with lows 14-24 and west winds 10-15 mph.
