A Carson City man who allegedly failed to appear for sentencing is being sought on a felony warrant.

Carson City Sheriff's Detective Daniel Gonzales said officers are looking for Jose Carlos Escobar, 27, on a warrant for failure to appear in court on two charges of dissuading a witness.

According to Gonzales, Escobar was arrested late last winter in a case in which he was accused of stabbing a woman. After posting bail, Escobar allegedly violated the conditions of his bail and ended up back in the jail.

While in custody, Escobar made 700 phone calls to the stabbing victim in an attempt to prevent her from testifying, or to persuade her to lie, said Gonzales.

Escobar pleaded guilty to the charges and failed to appear for sentencing on Oct. 28.

Escobar is described as 5-feet-11-inches tall, weighing 180 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He has the word "Shadow" tattooed across left side of his neck and tear drops tattooed under his right eye.

"We have been told that people are helping Escobar to hide. Anyone found to be assisting him will be charged with harboring a fugitive," said Gonzales.

Anyone with information on Escobar's whereabouts is asked to call Gonzales at 887-2020 ext. 41407.
