The Rain which raineth every day rained yesterday. Not copiously did it rain during the daylight hours, but when the soft darkness of night had set gently in it began to fall upon us who are unjust " as is the way of the rain. It's coming is not ungrateful, but something welcome, rather. It was a mild, modest, valley-like rain " maugre what was done, frost-wards on the hilltops, yonder.

Sign the Petition. The members of the Nevada State Suffrage Association most earnestly appeal to the citizens of Nevada to sign the petition being circulated in every community and which will be presented to the legislature of '99, praying that Honorable body to amend Article 2 of the Constitution by striking there from whenever it occurs the word "Male."

Mrs. Mary Williams, public health nurse, reports 37 cases of mumps, including five adults, in Carson the past couple of weeks. Parents are urged to keep children complaining of aches or pains, at home, and thus avoid exposing other children to the malady.

Richard Cross Stoddard, native Nevadan and longtime resident of Carson City, died in Reno today. Stoddard was born in Reno and was the son of former state attorney general district judge of Washoe County.

More than 10,000 persons are expected for this year's COMDEX computer show in Las Vegas. More than 1,700 companies are exhibiting computer wares at this year's show.
