Western Nevada College softball evens record

ST. GEORGE, Utah " The Western Nevada softball team evened its record Saturday with an impressive doubleheader sweep over Colorado Northwestern Community College.

The Wildcats won 19-2 and 15-3.

In the first game Devin Steelman hit a grand slam. Steelman finished with two hits and 5 RBI. Ambar Huish and Ashley Williams, each added a home run. Alex Arciniega went 2-for-4 in hits, three runs, two stolen bases and an RBI. Former Fernley High standout, Frances Estrada was 2- for-2 in hits, two runs and two RBI.

Kelsie Fahr went 2-for-3 with a double and two stolen bases.

Alyson Herman was the winning pitcher.

Herman came back in the second game to pick up her fourth win in two days for the Wildcats. Arciniega went 2-for-2 with 2 RBI. Huish picked up a pair of hits. Williams followed her homer in the first game up with a 2-for-2 game with 3 RBI. Stephanie Meibert also was 2-for-3.

The Wildcats improved to 4-4 this year. Western Nevada is scheduled to play its first home games in school history Friday and Saturday against North Idaho. The teams will play doubleheaders each day.
