The People Demand the Passage of the Woodburn Bill. About 8 last night we received the following dispatch: A big anti-railroad meeting is being held in Virginia City. Col. Bob Taylor is addressing about two thousand people. All present are very bitter in their expressions regarding the action of the Committee of Fourteen. It is proposed to send a procession of one thousand men to Carson tomorrow.

The following resolution was unanimously adopted by the Grand Jury: Whereas: The city and county are paying $162 monthly for its water supply, a price which the Grand Jury considers too high, Resolved, the Grand Jury recommends the City Trustees secure new supply and establish a new water system

The Carson Troop of Boy Scouts took a twelve-mile hike on Sunday, exploring the territory above the old Brunswick Mill. A swimming party was planned for the weekend and a trip to Lake Lahontan the following weekend. Fencing was enjoyed by many of the scouts last night under the efficient instruction of Scoutmaster Richard Gamwell.

"Wake Up and Read" is the slogan for the 1959 national library week. Ending a lengthy fight to avoid prison, Elmer Remmer, from San Francisco, surrenders in Reno to serve five years for evading taxes.

A representative of Nevada's legal brothel business defended the safety of prostitution today. "There may be 308 AIDS cases in Nevada but not one of those is from a brothel," said George Flint, lobbyist for the Nevada Brothel Association.
