The Chinese New Year: The Preacher. Rev. Ching Ching Cowe, the pastor, mounted the platform at

11 o'clock. The reporter learned he had recently been officiating at Truckee, but had become too warm to some of the female members of the flock. With an advanced salary, he quickly came to Carson. His flock here have every confidence in his piety and zeal for the converting of backsliders to Confucius (continued Friday).

100 YEARS AGO

The Grand Jury Report: In another section of this paper is the Grand Jury Report, which has more of a tenor of a political report than that of county affairs. Many things in the report are trivial, with the rest having been written by one man and hurriedly signed by the rest of the committee. A grand jury can do a lot of harm and very little good.

70 YEARS AGO

The offices of Ormsby County (Carson City) will be taken over Feb. 9 by the Boy Scouts of Carson City. Other Scouts will be filling similar state office positions for the day.

50 YEARS AGO

Delta Cafe whipped the Delta Saloon 3-0, led by Ralph Pistor's 174-479, Florence Coletti's 159-450 topped the position in Comstock League bowling play.

20 YEARS AGO

John Berkich, a Public Service Commission worker, has been approved as Carson City Manager by the Board of Supervisors.

10 YEARS AGO

For a number of months, members of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod have met in an effort to establish a Lutheran High School.
