Joshua Richard Lynn

June 1, 1972 to December 1, 2010

We lost our beautiful Josh to his long struggle with depression. It finally took him from this world. Josh amazed us, loved us, entertained us, made us laugh, charmed us, and broke our hearts. We love him. We admired him. We wish he could have been well.

Josh was born and raised in Carson City, and graduated from Carson High and Colorado State University where he majored in Forestry. He put his forestry and natural resources background to work volunteering with the Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic, and working with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps and the Fabretto Children's Foundation in Nicaragua.

Josh had a giving heart. He was a true steward of the environment and enjoyed playing soccer, mountain biking, hiking, skiing, trail running, and kayaking. He was a voracious reader, disarmingly clever, sharply witty, wonderfully intelligent, and a gifted writer and artist. He shared his talents with the local theater community. He had a special love for kids and they loved being with him.

He is survived by his father Jerry, sister Amy, brother Joe, brother-in-law Bob, loving girlfriend Karen, godchildren Alexa and Nate, and a plethora of family and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ann, in April 2009.

A funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Community in Carson City. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Josh to the Fabretto Children's Foundation at www.fabretto.org or 3124 North 10th St., 2nd Floor, Arlington, VA 22201.
