A Carson City woman was jailed Tuesday night for allegedly stealing money and jewelry from her work.

Katherine Lynn Koval, 27, a clerk at Kohl's, was booked into the Carson City Jail at 6:52 p.m. on suspicion of felony embezzlement.

According to the arrest report, a loss prevention officer at Kohl's reported he had video surveillance of Koval taking money from her register on Oct. 23, 24, 26, 29 and Nov. 3. When Koval was allegedly caught taking $220 from the register on Tuesday, the officer confronted her and called police.

Koval also allegedly took two rings and a pair of earrings, the report states.

Upon questioning by police, Koval allegedly said she was the "only one working in the household and she was trying to take care of her family. "

She also allegedly said she gave the jewelry to her children.

The report states the loss prevention officer recovered the $220 Koval allegedly took that night, and the deputy reported finding $224 in Koval's wallet, which she said was hers, but he collected it into evidence.

Koval's bail was set at $15,000.
