From Frank T. Gilbert (continued from Saturday): On May 5, 1860, the question was pending and a secret war party, numbering nine in all, had left camp unknown to Nu-Ma-Ga. Under the command of Captain Soo, they reached Williams Station at sundown. "We get there 'bout night; sun little way up; and leave ponies back, maybe half mile ... (continued on Tuesday).

100 YEARS AGO

The murderers of four sheep men in Little High Rock canyon are now being pursued by a posse of 22 mounted men over the Black Rock desert in the direction of Winnemucca. The scene of the murders had fortifications and defense positions by both attacker and sheep men and it was clear the men expected to defend themselves in a siege.

70 YEARS AGO

Strengthening armed forces in Hawaii continued this week with most operations cloaked in secrecy. A sizable number of army planes have been dispatched to the island.

50 YEARS AGO

Assemblyman Archie Pozzi Jr., in lambasting the State Park Commission today for accepting some $24,000 in Fleischmann Foundation funds.

20 YEARS AGO

The Carson City School Board approved a contingency plan to cap elementary classroom size and transport new students to other schools.

10 YEARS AGO

Carson City officials still are pushing for part of the Stewart Indian School in south Carson City as a replacement site for the Carson City Fairgrounds and Fuji Park.
