Results from Carson tennis tournament

The 37th annual Carson NTRP and Century Tournament was recently held at Centennial Park.

The tournament included a tiny tots division for the first time for ages 2-6. The tiny tots played on a mini court with short rackets and sponge rubber balls.

Among the sponsors for the event were the Carson Tennis Club, the Carson Station, Xpressions and Meeks. Proceeds went to Carson Youth Tennis, the Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada and the Carson Tennis Club. Results were:

Men's 4.5 singles: Finals - Dennis Brinson d. Spencer Brinson 6-3, 4-6, 6-2; consolation - Jay Wiggins d. Michael Fipps 6-2, 6-1. Men's 3.5 singles: Finals - Tony Trexler d. Dean Graves 6-4, 6-1; consolation - John Moore d. Barry Schaum 6-2, 7-6. Men's 3.0 singles: Finals - Michael Ramirez d. Michael Turner 6-4, 6-1; consolation - Robert Salcido d. Peter Brinson 6-4, 6-1.

Women's 3.0 singles: Finals - Megan Creig d. Lucy Adams 6-3, 6-1. Men's 4.5 doubles: Finals - Dennis and Spencer Brinson d. Jay and Laura Wiggins 6-1, 6-2. Men's 3.5 doubles: Finals - Dan Hannah and Steve Crouch d. Scott Davis and Tony Zimmerman 6-3, 6-4; consolation - John Moore and Chuck Kaiser d. Michael Turner and Michael Bish 6-2, 6-3.

Mixed 3.5 doubles: Finals - Eleanor Lockwood and Tom Nagashima d. Chuck and Lucy Adams 6-0, 6-0. Century mixed doubles: First - Dan and Kathy Hannah; second - Dean and Linda Graves. Century women's doubles: Finals - Kathy Hannah and Laura Hale d. Martha Deihl and Carol Fuller 6-1, 6-0. Century men's doubles: First - Bob and Brad Phelps; second - Dan Armstrong and Barry Schaum.

Note: Ages must add up to at least 100 in the Century divisions.
