Former Oakland Raiders receiving great Cliff Branch will be featured at the annual Carson City Raiders Booster Club annual picnic and membership drive.
The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 22 at Washoe Lake State park. The picnic is free for members and $5 for nonmembers. There's an additional $5 parking fee per vehicle.
Branch will sign autographs, pose for photos and have memorabilia available for purchase at the event. Those attending are asked to bring a side dish to share and should not it's a "bring your own" beverage picnic. A live auction and drawing will also be held.
Funds raised by the club are used to adopt homebound seniors in conjunction with the Carson City Senior Citizens Center. For more information, call 883-7112 or 232-9700.
Carson Valley fall ball signups slated
Signups have been scheduled for the inaugural Carson Valley Little League ball baseball instructional season.
The league will be for ages 5-12 - T-ball to Majors. Signups will be held from 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 18 and from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, July 21 at the Douglas County Senior Center, 2300 Meadow Lane, Gardnerville, right behind Sharkey's and across from Lampe Park field No. 5.
Cost is $40 and covers a minimum of 12 games. A valid state issued birth identification and a current utility bill with an address is needed when signing up.
The season will run during Septemeber and October with games at Lampe Park and Edmunds Park. For more information, call Warren Bottino, 783-6455.
