Windy Wednesday with cool temperatures; some controls on mountain roads

The Nevada Department of Transportation at 6:23 a.m. reports all routes open in Northern Nevada with no controls with the following exceptions::

Highway 395 " high wind advisory through Washoe Valley; campers and trailers not advised for 6 miles between Eastlake Boulevard and Winters Ranch.

SR 88 " Snow tires or chains required for 31.7 miles between Hams Station and 6.7 miles west of SR 89 at Picketts Junction.

SR 431 " Snow tires or chains required for 7.6 miles between 5 miles north of SR 28 and 11.9 miles south of Highway 395.

Road work continues in Carson City with areas of delays, mainly Fairview Drive between Roop Street and South Edmonds, and Highway 50 East between Airport Road and Saliman Road.

Traffic will be controlled at times; alternate routes are advised.

Today's weather will be windy and partly cloudy with isolated snow showers in the morning, highs 49-59 and southwest winds 20-30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

Tonight, windy and partly cloudy with lows 23-33 and west winds 20-30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph decreasing to around 10 mph by midnight.

Thursday, sunny with light winds and highs 54-64.
