Emergency crews respond to fuel leak near Fremont Street in Fernley

At approximately 2:36 p.m., North Lyon County Fire Protection District was dispatched to the scene of a small brush fire caused by arcing power lines near the Union Pacific rail line on Fremont Street in Fernley. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a fuel leak. Responders immediately established a perimeter and isolated the leak.

Two arrested on multiple charges in Carson City

Two people were arrested on multiple charges on Thursday after an investigation by the Carson City Special Enforcement Team. Peter Reinschmidt, 34, and Dannika Barstow, 33, were arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Reinschmidt also was wanted and had an outstanding felony warrant.

Arrests made in downtown Carson City graffiti cases

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office has arrested three juveniles in connection with 28 graffiti reports. The reported graffiti caused damages estimated between $5,000 and $6,000 to local business owners in Carson City. The 28 separate locations were reported in the downtown area between 2023 and 2024.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office received information on February 10th of an alleged Sex Trafficking operation out of California that had arrived in the local area on February 9th. The original information alleged that approximately 9 persons were involved, including 3 males who were significantly armed. Due to the nature of the sex trafficking operation, the FBI’s Human Exploitation and Trafficking (HEAT) Task Force was immediately engaged to assist.
