A Reno man was arrested Monday morning in Storey County on a charge of open murder of a Reno teenager. Authorities say at 4 a.m., Storey County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a possible intoxicated driver coming into Virginia City, but when officers tried to stop the vehicle the driver, identified as 19-year-old Elijah Henderson of Reno, allegedly crashed the vehicle on Six-Mile Canyon Road. Henderson was arrested and taken into custody.

David Torres was sentenced to 19-48 months in prison for assault on a peace officer in Carson City District Court Tuesday morning. Torres was arrested May 24 after deputies responded to reports of a man threatening to throw his infant into a swimming pool near the 400 block of Saliman Road. Upon the arrival of deputies, Torres threw a bicycle at two officers before leading deputies on a foot pursuit across 5th Street where he was cornered in the Juvenile Detention grounds and threatened officers by pretending he had a gun in his waistband and yelling “bang” as he pretended to pull it out. One deputy, injured during the incident, was placed on medical leave for a year.

Last member of major meth trafficking ring was sentenced in Carson City District Court Monday. Tawnee Johnson, along with six other people, were arrested when Tri-Net Narcotics Task Force raided a house in the 3500 block of Desatoya Drive in early March. Authorities seized nearly 11 ounces of methamphetamine with a street value of more than $30,000.

Daniel Fenstemacher, 55, was identified Friday as the man shot and killed during an alleged domestic disturbance in the Mark Twain area. The Storey County Sheriff’s Office arrested William Thomas Lyle, 66, for his alleged involvement in the shooting death of Fenstemacher, who lived at the residence where the shooting occurred.

Robertson, 37, claimed she didn’t have the keys to the vehicle with her, and deputies cleared the scene and left the man to wait for a tow company for the car.

The Sheriff’s Office swore in a new deputy Friday afternoon, 26-year-old Cody Bindley, the younger brother of a Carson City K9 deputy, Brett Bindley. Sheriff Ken Furlong gave Cody the Oath of Office to swear him in as an official Carson City deputy. Cody previously worked with the Washoe Tribe police for five years and Furlong said he’s coming to Carson City at a great time.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is offering a reward for anyone with information on an assault on law enforcement officers. On Sept. 1, at 8:30 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office Raven Helicopter was on a routine patrol over downtown Reno when it was struck by a laser several times. The laser caused damage to the pilot and observer’s eyes and the helicopter was forced to land at Stead Airport. Both officers were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Robert “Skip” Brandt died in his home at Carson Plaza on August 31, 2015 in Carson City, NV. He was 92.
